Life Story
Sharon Renee Rountree, 52
Affectionately known as “Punkin” departed this life on August 25, 2023, at her residence. Although Sharon bravely battled a lengthy illness, her transition was unexpected.
Sharon was born on October 15, 1970, to Robert Lee Rountree and Mary Florence Rountree. She was born in Augusta, and raised in Millen, GA where she attended the Jenkins County Public School System. At the age of 16, Sharon along with her baby sister and mother moved to Augusta, GA. During her last two years of school, she attended Maryvale High School in Phoenix, AZ for the 11th grade and then graduated from Laney Walker High School in Augusta, GA in 1988. Very shortly after graduation, Sharon pursued further education to become a physical therapist. Unfortunately, due to health issues, she was unable to continue her job. She was a former member of Greater Young Zion Baptist Church in Augusta under the leadership of Pastor William Blount. Sharon recently enjoyed traveling to Jamaica, cooking (especially seasoning different types of meat),
keeping up with friends and family through social media, listening to music and dancing, joking and laughing; and always the life of a party, Of course LOL!
Sharon was gifted with a sense of humor. There is a old saying, but a true statement. Laughter is the best medicine. Proverbs 17:22 confirms it—a merry
heart really does a spirit, soul and body good like medicine. By the time “Punkin” gets done with you, like a dose of castor oil, she will make you feel clean inside. LOL!

She is preceded in death by her sister, Kimberly Denise Rountree, her paternal grandparents, Elisher and Hattie Rountree; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Pauline Williams, three uncles, Elisher and Leonard Rountree, and Willie Lee Williams; two aunts, Marsha Ann Williams and Myrlene Rountree. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to one daughter and one granddaughter, Ashley Johnson and Ella Renee White of Vineland, NJ ; her mother, Mary Rountree of Augusta, GA; her father, Robert Lee”Bob” Rountree (Lutesia Heard) of Millen, GA; her sister and brother-in-law , Michelle and Darrell Mayfield of Vineland, NJ; a special friend, Dennis Simpson, her best friend, Stacie Wright; two close friends, Andrea Cherry and Pamela Perry-Vaughner; two God-Sons, Charveas ‘Ro’ Davis and Jamier ‘Mier’ Lewis all of Augusta, GA.; two special cousins, Shanelle Carr of Millen, GA and Amanda Jeff Diaz of Ft. Homegoing service will be Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Miracle Temple Church 640 Millen Bypass. Viewing will be Friday, September 8, 2023, at Morning Star Baptist Church from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Augusta, Ga 1809 Fairview Ave.
