Myrlene Rountree

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom filled room; Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not for long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone. It's all part of the master plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know. Laugh at all the things we used to do, Miss me but let me go.

Myrlene Rountree of Bridgeton, NJ (Fairfield Township) transitioned from this life on Sunday, June 4, 2023.  She was born in Millen, GA to the late Elisher Rountree Sr. and the late Hattie Iris (Lee) Rountree.

Myrlene grew up in Georgia and attended Jenkins County Public School of Millen, George.  She migrated to Bridgeton in 1966 and lived with family members until she purchased her own home. 

She was employed at Theber Sewing Manufacture as a seamstress for ten years and at Leone Glass in quality control for 36 years. Myrlene loved spending quality time with her family eating dinner together, playing cards or simply watching Family Feud, Price Is Right, Jeopardy or Union Baptist Temple Church service.

Myrlene was led to the Lord by two of her sisters and accepted the Lord as her personal savior. 

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, five sisters, Iris Rountree of Millville, NJ, Christene (Anthony) Morrow of Vineland, NJ, Dorethea Williams of Columbia, SC, Jessie Foots of Millen, GA and Patricia Ann Newton of Millen, GA; three brothers, Robert (Lutesia) Rountree of Millen, GA, Hilton (Neville) Rountree of Newington, GA and Richard Rountree of Vineland, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Predeceased by brothers Elisher Rountree Jr. and Leonard Rountree, brothers-in-law Henry Williams and Artis Newton.
